ImTranslator includes 4 translation tools: ImTranslator, Pop-up Bubble, Inline Translator and Webpage Translation, and other language tools such as Text-to-Speech. Having futuristic tech where you can talk with people in different languages seamlessly is not there yet. ImTranslator translates selected text, words (Dictionary), phrases and webpages between more than 100 languages using translation providers: Google, Microsoft Bing, Yandex. And when you talk with people, you usually make the assumption they speak your language, at least enough to understand the subject, so it's not a priority. Tldr: it's not impossible to solve, but not trivial, and has major caveats. YANDEX TRANSLATE BOT MANUALEither make it automatical (but then you must detect the language?) Or manual (and ask for each message).Īnd now you have a bunch more problems (people don't see the same thing? As the message is translated in place? It still suffers from the problems of speed and resources, but at least not spammy any more. The alternative would be to "change" the message. It gets spammy, as each message is kind of duplicated. It's slow and resources consuming (either once by the bot, or in a similar e2e encrypted service it'd need to be performed by each member of the group). The bot I suggested creates (iirc) one message with multiple translations, for each message sent in the group (roughly). And if encrypted end to end, it must be performed by the client. This means handing over a lot of data and messages to third parties. Works in a group, when someone sends a message it gets translated to the target languages.įor a messenger to implement that they must either develop if themselves (not quite cheap) or rely on third parties. Some bots do that like TranslateBot (by Yandex).
